Gardens

In addition to all the castles in the vicinity of La Cipière, there are also many beautiful gardens which can be visited. They range from neat and symmetrical to winding and unexpected lines of sight. The gardens also give a beautiful view of the surrounding area.

Hanging gardens of Marqueyssac

The gardens of Marqueyssac are located opposite Castelnaud, on the other bank of the Dordogne river. This is about half an hour's drive from La Cipière. An incredible amount of boxwood plants are meticulously maintained in the garden in all shapes and sizes. You can explore the extensive terrain on foot, after which you reach the Belvedere via various routes. Here is a beautiful view of the Dordogne and the pretty village of La Roque Gageac.

Gardens of Eyrignac

The gardens of Eyrignac offer the classic French picture: tightly trimmed hedges and beautiful sightlines. All this about a 30 minute drive away. Eyrignac is divided into several smaller gardens, all with its own atmosphere, in which the many flowers and trees play a major role.

Jardins de l'Imaginaire

Unlike the other gardens in the region, the Jardin de l'Imaginaire is relatively new (1990s) and designed by international architects. A footpath takes the visitor across the 6-hectare site past several small gardens, each with its own character. Fountains, a pergola of roses, waterfalls, a beautiful view of the town of Terrasson. A visit to the garden can be combined well with a visit to the historic town of Terrasson.

Jardin Panoramique Limeuil

At the confluence of the Vézère and Dordogne rivers lies the village of Limeuil (30 minutes from La Cipière). The village street goes up steeply towards the top of a rock. On top of the rock the panoramic garden of Limeuil is located, on the site of an old castle. The garden can be visited entirely by yourself, with educational and interactive elements. For example, there is a treasure hunt and workshops for children. The garden is not that big, but is well worth a visit.
