Perigord Noir
The Dordogne is divided into four regions, each known for its own landscape characteristics. La Cipière is located in the Perigord Noir. It is the most attractive region of the four. Known for its wooded hillsides, nice rivers and castles. It is an area visited by many tourists because of its versatility.
Gastronomy
The region offers many opportunities to enjoy the French cuisine. Within 15 minutes driving you can choose from more than 50 restaurants in the surrounding villages, like Les Eyzies and Montignac. The so-called 'Marché Gourmands' are organized in July and August. These are peasant events where you can enjoy all kinds of dishes at long tables for low prices and often with live music!
Caves
The region is known for its many caves and prehistoric villages, so called ‘abri’s’. Virtually nowhere else in the world have there been so many finds of our forefathers. Within 15 minutes by car, many different historic parks and caves are located.

The Perigord Noir has many small villages and towns that are more than worth a visit. Beautiful old towns such as Sarlat (20km) and Montignac (15km) are lively places full of monuments and bustling markets.

Throughout the Perigord Noir there are about 1000 castles. Only some of them can be visited and mostly more than worth a visit. Some castles are richly decorated and furnished, others are little more than ruins but have a special history.

In addition to all the castles in the vicinity of La Cipière, there are also many beautiful gardens which can be visited. They range from neat and symmetrical to winding and unexpected lines of sight. The gardens also give a beautiful view of the surrounding area.

The rivers Vézère and Dordogne flow through the Perigord Noir and offer many canoeing routes. For swimming fans, not far away from La Cipière a small but beautiful swimming lake is located.

Around La Cipière are many walking tracks. You can walk straight into the woods and fields. There are many marked but also unmarked paths and trails. The quiet country roads are ideal for people who want to discover the area by bike. There are also many tracks to discover by horse and local guides organise tours.
MORE INFORMATION For children
For families with children there are lots of activities possible. Examples include a visit to a prehistoric park, an adventure park or a large playground. Make it a vacation full of adventures and above all make it a vacation you will never forget. All of these activities are located no more than 20 km away from La Cipière.

Especially in high season, there are many vide greniers (flea markets) in the surrounding villages. Ranging from antiques to trinkets. We can tell you exactly which markets are taking place when and are worth a visit.
