La Cipière has a park style garden with swimming pool, surrounded by woodland and meadows. The area compromises around ten hectares (25 acre). ‘Cipière’ by the way means coppice forest. The buildings were built around 300 years ago. We have many different types of trees that give protection to the varied birds who live in this area, such as owls, woodpeckers and swallows. At dusk, deer and also wild boar can sometimes be spotted or heard.
History
The houses were built in the 17th century. The gîte building is in the Perigordine style and was originally used as a farm, but was converted in the ‘60s by a Parisian doctor into a holiday home. When the doctor retired he lived permanently at La Cipière with his wife and had family members and friends who visited them. When we bought the house it needed a large renovation. Many old elements have been restored so that one can get a taste of the former grandeur of the house and garden.
Families and peace-seekers
Families with children have the opportunity to enjoy the swimming pool, the many games that can be played (Jeu de boules, table tennis, badminton, etc.), the sandbox or just enjoy peaceful reading on the terrace. It is also possible to hire two or three holiday homes together. This then gives room for 9 to 14 persons in total. A superb family accommodation.
Terrace and garden
The different terraces offer you a magnificent view of the flowers and shrubs where you can experience the natural wildlife. There is also a central terrace available. The self-made sculptures invite you to take a stroll through the garden. Long walks are also possible in the surrounding woods. Yours host and hostess will gladly show you the different walking tracks.
Swimming Pool
At the edge of the garden, at just a few steps from the gîtes, there is a sun rich swimming pool. The pool measures 10 by 4 meter and there is a fence for the security of children. While reading a book in one of the sun loungers, children can have fun in the swimming pool. There a no dogs allowed in the swimming pool and inside the fence. The pool is open from mid-May to mid-September, depending on the weather.
Games
We have a playing house for children where they can play to their heart's content. Next to that we have got a swing for the little ones. For adults, what could be more French than a game of 'pétanque'? During a holiday in France, this game cannot be left out. In the back of the large garden we have created our own course. There is also a badminton course and table tennis available for everyone.
